Who: The workshop is designed for researchers, professionals, and students interested in pandemic preparedness and response, including public health officials, epidemiologists, computer scientists, medical professionals, emergency responders, and researchers from industry. It is also suitable for data analysts, system developers, and policymakers who work with pandemic-related health data.

Workshop Description

The AI Center for Health and Pandemic Preparedness (AI-HAPP) at Case Western Reserve University will conduct a public, hybrid workshop on May 3rd, 2023, to explore how innovative research sparked by COVID-19 can enhance preparedness and responses to emerging infectious diseases. This workshop will focus specifically on public health data life cycles and the roles of computational solutions in pandemic surveillance, pathogen detection, forecast and prediction, pathogen and host dynamics, and evolution.  This workshop will also discuss how the scientific community can work more effectively with health systems, public health agencies, industrial partners, and private citizens to improve coordination and collaboration for purposes of rapid and effective responses to future infectious disease threats.   

The workshop will include a mix of interactive presentations, panel discussions, and student poster sessions. Participants will also have the opportunity to network and share their experiences with other professionals in the field.
